This is a place for my genealogy. At this time I am researching Isaac John Wardle History. He was a Mormon handcart pioneer.

Mary Dixon Wardle: Death Record
This is the death record for Mary Dixon Wardle, the wife of James Wardle making her the sister-in-law of Isaac Wardle and the daughter-in-law of John and Mary Wardle. This record gives her parents as James Dixon and Mary Farrel both of Scotland. Her dob is 3 November 1850, born in Scotland and her death date is 18 March 1943 in Salt Lake City. The witness to the death is A.C. Wardle. The cause of death is cardiac arrest due to senility. She was 92 years old.
Quick Trip to South Jordan Cemetery
I looked at the directory of the cemetery as we were leaving, and there are many more Wardle names, perhaps 100, all related some how. However these are the names I found quickly with Natalia's help.

Poem: My Heart Breaks
This poem reflects the letters of my father and grandmother to each other during WWII when my father was in the Navy. I wrote this when I wrote my Dad's Naval history. It reflects my Dad entering the Navy, being known as Wilford, and preferring Jim in the Navy. I guess everyone went by their first name in the military.
My Heart Breaks
My Heart Breaks
I go to defend my country,
My arms ache.
I'm not found under summer trees.
I feel empty.
I will be safe, protected,
Danger, avoid the sea.
By God directed.
I worry, cry and weep;
I wish you could be calm,
At night I do not sleep.
My patriarchal blessing's balm.
But what of the farm?
I have a job to do here.
Work without harm.
When my job is done; I'll be there.
Guard your soul.
I will walk upright
Mind your eternal goals.
My actions guided by light.
You leave me, my Wilford,
I return to you as Jim.
My son, my manly ward.
I've learned to swim.

My Dad's Photo Album
Somehow my Dad's album came to me after he passed away. It looks like it was put together while he was married to Jewel. Some people I don't recognize, so if you do please comment and help me.

My Father James Wilford Wardle Jr.
This is a song my son wrote when my dad passed away. We all went to the hospital to say goodbye before they took him off the ventilator. I have added a pictorial essay of my father.

How I am related to Vern Wardle
Since moving to Manteca, I have been asked numerous times if I am related to Vern Wardle. Vern lived in Tracy, and was a member of the stake presidency for the Manteca Stake. However I did not meet him until after he moved from Tracy, to Cupertino. In Cupertino he was a member of our ward, a friend, and a neighbor. I also found out that we were indeed related.
We share the same great-great-great grandfather James Wardle. James Wardle had four sons and one daughter. The oldest was William, Isaac was the second, then came his only sister Hannah, and then two more sons, Joseph and James. James also had a stepson, Thomas Morton.
Isaac was the first to travel to Utah with the Edward Martin Handcart company in 1856 His parents and James followed in 1860 with the Daniel Robison Handcart Company. This was one of the last handcart companies. William immigrated with his wife and infant child (he left a couple children buried in England) in 1862 in the Homer Duncan Company.
Isaac had settled in the South Jordan area. His newly arriving family members also settled in the Jordan area., West and South Jordan. Isaac likely helped in the passage of those family members who followed, as he would have had resources from his farming operation and mill he had established on the Jordan River.
I refer to Vern sometimes as Uncle Vern, as he is a few years older than I. I don't know how many generations he is from our common ancestor James, so I tell everyone he is my third cousin.

James Wilford Wardle Jr., My Father
My dad was the second boy born to his family. His parents are Melissa Ann Shaw Wardle and James Wilford Wardle Sr. Before his birth his older brother, William Haston (named after his grandfather) and two sisters had passed away from the flu epidemic, scarlet fever in Pocatello. My father took his father's name.
